TV Floor Stand, Video Conferencing Setup

A TV floor stand can provide a flexible foundation for a video-conferencing system when wall mounting is not suitable. It supports the display independently of the wall and can also accommodate cameras, conferencing appliances and AV equipment.

Depending on the room, the stand may be fixed or mobile. The correct choice depends on whether the system will remain permanently in one location or move between spaces.

Why Use a TV Floor Stand for Video Conferencing?

  • No permanent display wall mount is required
  • The screen position can be adjusted to suit the room
  • Equipment can be organised around the display
  • The system can be moved if a wheeled model is selected
  • Camera height can be planned more accurately
  • Cables can be routed through one central structure

Fixed Floor Stand or Mobile Trolley?

Fixed floor stand

A fixed stand is suitable when the display remains in one meeting room but wall mounting is not possible. It can create a clean, permanent presentation position.

Mobile video-conference trolley

A wheeled trolley is better when the system is shared between rooms or when furniture layouts change frequently.

Mobility is particularly useful for:

  • Training rooms
  • Flexible offices
  • Schools and colleges
  • Temporary project rooms
  • Multi-purpose conference spaces

Positioning the Display

The display should be high enough to remain visible to participants but not so high that people must look upward throughout the meeting.

Consider:

  • Seated eye level
  • Room depth
  • Number of participants
  • Conference-table height
  • Camera position
  • Whether shared content must be visible from the rear of the room

Camera Placement

The camera should normally be positioned near the eye line of remote participants. It may be installed above or below the screen depending on the room layout and camera design.

An adjustable camera shelf makes it easier to align the lens without drilling into the wall.

Equipment and Cable Planning

A complete system may include:

  • Television or professional display
  • Video-conference camera
  • Soundbar or speakerphone
  • Mini PC or room computer
  • Conferencing appliance
  • Touch controller
  • Network connection
  • Power distribution

Plan how each item will be mounted or stored. Cables should remain organised, accessible for maintenance and clear of wheels where a mobile stand is used.

Room-Planning Checklist

  • Confirm the display weight and VESA pattern.
  • Measure the available floor area.
  • Check the viewing distance.
  • Plan the camera eye line.
  • Confirm shelf and equipment requirements.
  • Check doorway and lift clearance for mobile stands.
  • Plan power and network access.
  • Keep maintenance access available.

Request a Suitable Setup

Provide the display model, room dimensions, participant capacity, camera model, AV-equipment list and whether the stand must be mobile.

RIFE can recommend a suitable TV floor stand or video-conference trolley based on the actual room and equipment configuration.
